frequently asked questions about EMILY BRADFORD &

why she is asking for your vote on november 4th

❓Who is Emily Bradford?

I'm a lifelong resident of Vandalia, a proud graduate of Vandalia-Butler schools, and a public servant with nearly 20 years of experience in local government. My roots here run deep—this is where I grew up, where I chose to raise my family, and where I’ve built a life centered on service and community.

❓Why are you running for Vandalia City Council?

I’m running because I believe in this community and I know how to help it thrive. Vandalia has given so much to me and my family, and I want to give back. With my experience in government operations, I can bring practical, results-driven leadership to our city—focusing on transparency, fiscal responsibility, and long-term community success.

❓What experience do you have in government?

I currently serve as the Clerk of Commission and Director of Operations for Montgomery County, working directly with the County Commissioners and County Administrator. My role includes:

  • Overseeing policy and legislative processes

  • Managing public budgets and compliance

  • Leading digital process improvements like e-signatures and records modernization

  • Coordinating annexations, board appointments, and intergovernmental initiatives

This background has prepared me to understand both the details and the big picture of how effective, accountable local government should function.

❓What is your connection to Vandalia?

I’ve lived in Vandalia for over 30 years. I graduated from Vandalia-Butler and chose to stay here to raise my family. My children are currently attending and have attended Vandalia-Butler schools. My son Tyler is now at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing a dual MD/PhD. My daughter attends Morton Middle School. This community helped shape who we are, and I want to do everything I can to help it succeed for the next generation.

❓What are your top priorities for Vandalia?

My priorities include:

✅ Fiscal Responsibility – Ensuring tax dollars are spent wisely and budgets are aligned with community goals

✅ Efficient Government – Streamlining city services to improve responsiveness and reduce waste

✅ Community Pride – Supporting projects that strengthen quality of life and make Vandalia a place we’re all proud to call home

✅ Transparency & Accountability – Keeping citizens informed and involved in how decisions are made

✅ Collaboration – Building strong partnerships between council members, city staff, and the community

❓What sets you apart from other candidates?

I bring real-world, hands-on experience in government leadership. I’ve worked behind the scenes and at the decision-making table. I understand the structure, responsibilities, and dynamics of public governance, and I’ve spent nearly two decades improving how it works for residents. I’m not new to leadership. I’m ready to lead on day one.
